PPSO Holds Ribbon Cutting for New District 1 Substation

Tulane Study Shows 'Diversions, Crevasses, Breaches' in River Contribute to Saltwater Intrusion

A recent study conducted by Tulane University on the e_ects of the 25 natural diversions along the east bank of the lower Mississippi River—Mardi Gras Pass, Neptune Pass, Fort St, Phillip, etc.—noted what many within Plaquemines Parish have been stating for months: these diversions are weakening the _ow rate of the river and increasing the intensity of the saltwater wedge.
