Laverne Braud

Body
Laverne “Mama” Braud was one of a kind. To know her was to be loved by her unequivocally. She was a great-grandmother, a grandmother, a mother and a friend to more than we can count. She lived her life like everyone would love todo.Therewasnotasktoobigandnohurdle too high. She moved here from North Louisiana many years ago and settled in Belle Chasse to build a long and meaningful life. She spent her career working for Plaquemines Parish’s Health Department and raising a family. Although she was deeply saddened by the loss of her beloved husband, Clyde “Da” Braud, for whom she cared for in every way before his passing almost 30 years ago; she never missed a moment to impact the lives of those around her from family to her “younger” friends at the card table. She fiercely cheered on her Saints and beat many a person in horseshoes. Along the way, she fed the masses with her famous barbecue shrimp, gumbo and pound cake to name a few recipes we wish we had written down. Until the end, Mama was loved by all who she had met and impacted. She is survived by her children, Pamela (Blair) and Byron (Darleen), her grandchildren, Brandon (Sara) Brett (Janise), Michelle (Jeremy) and, her great grandchildren, Natalie, Reese, Wyatt, Landon, Lawson and Lainey along with many, many loved ones. She has now gone home to be with her Lord and Savior.
