The Centennial Naval Aviation is a year-long event honoring the history of Naval aviation. On May 8, 1911, Navy Capt. Washington Irving Chambers, officer in charge of aviation, prepared the requisition for the Navy’s first aircraft to be purchased from aviator and inventor Glenn H. Curtiss. May 8th is recognized as the official birthday of Naval Aviation.
Gates open at 8 a.m. daily. Performance times are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a concert immediately following the air performances on May 7. Parking and admission is free for all shows.
