Sign for draw bridge soon to be running

Drivers in Belle Chasse may have noticed the new addition of a digital sign facing the northbound side of Highway 23, designed to alert motorists if the drawbridge is up.
If the Belle Chasse Bridge is up, Highway 23 can be plagued with traffic, but the wait time can be avoided by exiting onto Woodland Highway instead.
However, some Plaquemines residents are not pleased with the new sign’s location, which is across from the corner of Highway 23 and C Street.
While this location allots enough time to veer onto Woodland Highway, it is not visible beyond the curve in 23 where the third route, onto Main Street, could be used.
The new sign is still in its testing cycle, and should be fully operational in about 30 days, according to the Department of Transportation and Development.
