South Plaquemines High School seniors Bradley Sylve (left) and Beau Fitte signed to play college football with Alabama University and Louisiana Tech University, respectively, on National Signing Day.

Two of South Plaquemines High School’s finest athletes have been picked up to play college football next year. Bradley Sylve will head to the University of Alabama next fall, while Beau Fitte will be bound for Louisiana Tech University.

Sylve, a receiver, committed to join the Crimson Tide last May and said he is one of the first in his family to go to college. He said he hasn’t yet decided what subject he wants to study.

Fitte, a linebacker, said he chose Louisiana Tech in September, and that he felt at home when he visited the campus as his older brother, Lyle, is enrolled there, as well. Fitte said he wants to pursue the medical field.

The boys inked their signatures on their contracts on Feb. 2, which was National Signing Day for college football.

Meanwhile, the library of South Plaquemines High School was crowded with friends and family who gathered to watch Fitte and Sylve pen their names, and celebrate with them afterward.

“South Plaquemines is very lucky to have two outstanding athletes,” said school principal, John Barthelemy.

“I want Alabama and Louisiana Tech to know, you’re getting some of our best athletes and students,” Barthelemy continued.

Sylve and Fitte helped lead the Hurricanes to an 11-5 season in 2010.
