Last week, AT&T announced a $1,000 donation to the Plaquemines Parish 4-H Foundation to support the efforts to develop and execute educational programs and activities that provide youth the opportunity to develop life skills such as self esteem, community and citizen responsibility, decision making, organization and social interaction.
“4-H in Plaquemines Parish provides critical educational opportunities and life skill development experiences for our youth throughout Louisiana,” said State Rep. Ernest Wooton. “Their support to encourage our youth to become productive and contributing members of society should be commended.”
“The program enhances and supports the leadership training and development of our youth while building understanding and awareness for young people statewide in leadership and communication skills,” said Jan Morgan, Plaquemines Parish 4-H Agent. “I would like to thank both AT&T for their contribution to the program and Rep. Wooton for his commitment to supporting 4-H.”
“It’s important that we encourage our youth to take a leadership role in their communities,” said Leo Marsh, regional director for AT&T Louisiana. “This contribution will lead to a sustainable leadership development program experience for future youth leaders in the state.”
4-H in Plaquemines Parish is assisted in this goal by staff members of the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, and both parish and state LSU AgCenter Extension Offices. School leaders, volunteer parents and other lay leaders, who share their time and talents in service to this youth organization in Plaquemines Parish, are a very fundamental element in the success of 4-H in Plaquemines Parish.
AT&T said they are committed to advancing education, strengthening communities and improving lives. As part of this commitment, AT&T launched Aspire in April 2008. AT&T Aspire is one of the largest-ever corporate commitments to address high school success and workforce readiness.
