Home Sweet Home

It was a virtual homecoming over the weekend as hundreds flocked to Fort Jackson for the first time since Hurricane Katrina to celebrate the 64th Annual Plaquemines Parish Fair and Orange Festival.

As tradition, the festival hosted a slew of contests and games for both children and adults. Kids could be found hopping in sack races or covered in raw egg on Saturday, Dec. 4. Then men and women tested their oyster shucking and shrimp peeling skills on Sunday, Dec. 5.

Guests of the fest presumably had a fun time considering they bought up approximately 100 gallons of tako toddies, 80 gallons of daiquiri mix and 500 Orange Festival T-shirts.
