There’s a new Sheriff in town…
Jun 26th, 2012 | By Terri Sercovich | Category: top storySheriff Lonnie Greco was officially sworn into office June 18 with a small gathering of family and friends as witnesses. Greco stated that the official induction ceremony will be held in Buras the second week of July, but the Sheriff’s Office is still finalizing the details.
Following the swearing in, Greco gave a short speech in which he thanked his supporters and talked about what citizens can expect in the months to come.
“We’re making a lot of changes and I’m asking the citizens to give us time,” Greco said. “We’re taking the politics out of the sheriff’s office; We’re going to do the right thing. Our interest is you.”
Greco was also enthusiastic about the department as a whole, and mentioned that he is proud to be working with such dedicated, qualified individuals.
“All entities have a lot to bring to the table,” Greco said, “And I’m in awe to know we have a lot of good people in this department.”
