Shelby Jean Haygood Stampley was born on August 16, 1938 in Liberty, MS to Louis C. and Zola K. Haygood. She departed this life Saturday, March 22, 2014 at her home in Covington where she resided for the past 27 years with her beloved husband of 50 years, Joseph R. Stampley. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, James E. Gibson, Jr. She is survived by her son, Randall L. Gibson (Debra) of Chesapeake, VA, and her daughter, Gwen Stampley Poole (Kevin) of Belle Chasse, LA; three grandsons, Billy and Ian Gibson, Cody Poole and one granddaughter, Kara Poole. She is also survived by her sister, Bettie H. Causey (Ike) of Mobile, AL and nephew, Russ C. Causey (Jennifer) of Baltimore, MD. She is a member of First Baptist Church of Covington and the Deborah Bible Study Class. She is a retired medical transcriber having worked for Northlake Surgical approximately 25 years. Shelby loved her family dearly. Relatives and friends of the family were invited to attend the funeral service at First Baptist Church of Covington, on Tuesday, March 25, 2014. Interment in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
