On Tuesday, May 16, Plaquemines Parish Government (PPG) o_cials made a trip to Baton Rouge for Plaquemines Day at the Capitol. _is event, held annually at around this time of year, gives locals a chance to showcase what the parish has to oer. Additionally, PPG o_cials get the opportunity to meet with any attending state o_cials and discuss issues or legislation that could impact the parish.

Legislators Gotta Have a Pay Raise

In case you missed the news bulletin, a number of legislators in Baton Rouge say they just have to have a big pay raise to survive. The initial proposal was for legislators to see a pay bump from the current $16,800 to $60,000. But it could be a big election issue. “Some people, if they vote for this, it could cost them an election,” said Rep Barry Ivey.”

The Plaquemines Parish District Attorney’s Office reports that on Friday, May 12, a Plaquemines Parish Grand Jury convened and returned true bills of indictment on Justin Arendt, age 30, from Belle Chasse, for Sexual Battery and Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile Under the Age of 13.
