Sometimes, you just want to roll down your car window and let out a scream. No, not because someone is passing you in road rage. The kind of wrath I’m talking about is the outrageous spending that takes place in many agencies of the Louisiana state government. Here is what has gotten my dander up. US News and World Report just released their state rankings. Where is Louisiana? Right where it was last year. Dead last.

HOST Supports Return of Girls Softball on Eastbank With Jersey Donation

On Saturday, May 20, the Pink Sox softball team for seven- to nine-year-old girls officially brought softball back to Plaquemines Parish’s Eastbank after more than a decade hiatus. The team played their first game of the season against the Belle Chasse Angels and won 11 to 2. To celebrate the team’s return to the field, HOST sponsored brand-new jerseys for the team’s debut matchup.

Well-known local historian Charlie Schmitz will be the guest speaker at the Plaquemines Historical Associations June 6, 2023 meeting. Schmitz grew up in West Pointe-a-la-Hache at the LSU Experimental Station, graduated from Port Sulphur High and then with a Law degree from LSU.

Boothville-Venice Elementary School (BVES) had the pleasure of honoring two more retirees during the awards ceremony held Monday, May 15. Faculty, staff, students, friends and relatives gathered to bid farewell to Mrs. Brenell Alexis with 22 years of service, and Mrs. Karen Armstrong Cook with 36 years of dedicated service.
