Council Votes to Set Aside Surplus Revenue in 'Rainy Day' Funds

With the recent in_ux of sales-tax money coming in from progress of major developments within Plaquemines Parish (such as Venture Global and the Belle Chasse Toll Bridge), the Plaquemines Parish Government (PPG) council unanimously approved two ordinances to set some of that money aside for future use at their June 8 meeting.

Port Executive Director Declines to Provide Public with SP Contract Executive Summary

Despite Plaquemines Port Harbor & Terminal District (PPHTD) executive director Charles Tillotson announcing that his administration has completed working through amendments to the Sustainability Partners (SP) contract— which would provide funding to the proposed railway extension project—commissioners opted at their June 8 meeting to defer a vote on the new contract until the public was given a chance to review it.

PPSB Denies two ITEP Applications, Introduces Possible ITEP Policy

At their June 5 monthly meeting, Plaquemines Parish School Board (PPSB) members unanimously denied two Industrial Tax Exemption Program (ITEP) applications being sought by Stolthaven, a company that operates a liquid storage facility on the eastbank. And, after denying these ITEPs, PPSB emphasized that this may not be the final decision made on them as, board members are establishing a standardized process to streamline the ITEP application process.

Quarterly Food Distribution Deadline Set for July 2023 Commodity Food Distribution

Deadline for accepting applications for participation in the July 2023 Food Distribution Program is July 7, 2023. Plaquemines Parish residents who have not yet applied for or completed an Application/Declaration Form of Eligibility can do so now or before the above mentioned date. All applications received after the deadline will not be processed for the upcoming July 2023 distribution. Commodity applications are available at all Parish Council offices, Council on Aging and the Community Action Agency office.
