Many years ago, I visited a community in Florida called Niceville that impressed me and I wrote an editorial about the nice things in Niceville. I stated the town had been appropriately named. No sooner than the paper hit the streets, I was getting calls telling me if Niceville is so nice, why don’t you move there.

Christmas tree lots have popped up all over the region, offering plenty of trees grown both locally and further afield for people to choose from. Prices are slightly elevated due to drought losses, but availability remains high, and selection appears to be good.

BVES Makes Connections usands of Miles Away

On November 14, Boothville- Venice Elementary School had the privilege of connecting with another elementary school in Fairlee, Vermont. Current events are built into their 4th grade curriculum and taught through CNN-10, a news program geared strictly to students learning about current events around the world. e October 5 episode on CNN-10 involved a story about our parish. e story outlined the saltwater crisis we were all facing at the time. It caught the attention of these fourth grade students and their empathy for us sparked a desire to reach out through a card and as the saying goes, “e rest was history!”

SPES Recognizes Students for First Nine Weeks Honor Roll and Perfect Attendance

A total of 37 students were recognized at South Plaquemines Elementary Honor Roll Ceremony on Friday, November 10, 2023. Students were given a pin and certificate for their academic achievement. The following four students were recognized as recipients of the all A Honor Roll: Brayden Landry, Chloe Parker, Lexus Tran, and Zoe Mareno. In addition, the following students were recognized as recipients of the AB Honor Roll: Alexa Barthelemy, Khi Black, Landon Butler, Sophia Pulido, Milan Mackey, Yari Marston, Aaron Sylve, Joshua Terrebonne, Landon Caddell (not pictured), Alyia Cogburn, Shawnee Jackson, Ivett Morales, Wade Nguyen, Makayla Ragas, Jonquel St. Ann, Treasure Taylor, Jaxon Volk, Jy'len Williams, Brielle Barthelemy, Aisley Brown, Sa'Mi Parker, Jackson St. Ann, Daunte Turner, Cailey Ancar, Keegan Hampton, Collin Mackey, Joelle Ancar, Wyatt Benoit, Keyvondrick Booker, Haleigh Hayden, Harper Hayden, Geleah Martin, and Kynsli Tyler. We had five students who were recognized for perfect attendance as well: Jaysonna Reddick, Brayden Landry, Jaxon Volk, Aisley Brown, and Ridley Vo. Congratulations to all honorees for working hard and for being recognized for academic excellence.
