Deadline for Port Sulphur Library extension project is set for April 30
By Jack Tiebout
A resolution that was presented “just for discussion” at the March 27 Plaquemines Parish council meeting resulted in a drawn out exchange with plenty of fingers pointed. The resolution was to move money within the parish’s Disaster Recovery Program from the Port Sulphur Library Extension project (a secondary project to the initial library building) to the Consolidated Government Complex. According to Grants Administrator Benny Puckett, the library extension project has not been approved, and the deadline to submit the project is April 30. As such, it was recommended by the state that the council shift money to the already approved Consolidated Government Complex, so as not to relinquish $2 million in disaster recovery funding.
