The LA VooDoo 16U Softball team, coached by Jesse Barksdale, traveled to Oklahoma City, OK in June and participated in the Hall of Fame Tournament at Hall of Fame Stadium. There were 24 teams from across the nation that participated. The girls faced teams from Texas, Georgia, Illinois and Indiana and ended the tournament in 6th place, earning them a bid to ASA Nationals.
The team then traveled to Boulder, Colorado and participated in the Independence Day Tournament that was held for seven days in July. They played against teams from Oklahoma, Texas, Virginia, Illinois, California, Minnesota, Florida and Alabama. There were 48 teams that participated in this tournament and VooDoo ended with a record of 7-1-1 and 1st place in one of six pool brackets. One of the main objectives of the Independence Day Tournament is to provide girls an opportunity to perform for college coaches that are in attendance.
Last week, the team returned from a trip to ASA Nationals held in Sunnyvale, CA.
