Buras native Natalie Hyatt Cosse knew something was seriously wrong. After months of dealing with severe headaches, Natalie underwent an MRI on April 16 at North Oaks Hospital in Hammond – where she also works as a registered nurse. She was tipped to the seriousness of the situation when some of her fellow nurses escorted her to neurologist Patricio Espinosa’s office to hear the results. “I knew immediately when they walked me over to Dr. Espinosa’s office,” she said. “He said we need to do another MRI with contrast and I knew they had seen something.” Hyatt Cosse had a grade 3 anaplastic astrocytoma tumor, a form of brain cancer that spreads relatively quickly and carries a poor prognosis.
