BVFD Crawfish Boil-off

On Saturday, April 30th, thousands of folks passed a good time “down the road” at Fort Jackson in Buras, La., for the Buras Volunteer Fire Department’s Annual Crawfish Boil-Off. The annual crawfish boil is a charitable event sponsored by the BVFD, to raise funds for the department’s improvement projects. While providing an entertaining event for all to enjoy, it is a good natured competition for those in the community who wish to prove they have the best boiled crawfish.

This year’s event included 75 Gold, Silver and Bronze Sponsor teams, and included 27 Platinum Sponsor teams, who boiled over 700+ sacks, which is equivalent to 30,000 pounds or 15 tons of crawfish. Crawfish were judge on color, taste, texture, flavor and appearance. The judges named Team PMI as the Top Crawfish Boilers of the Year, with FAB CON coming in second, and USES third. This year’s People’s Choice and Best in Show were both awarded to Camp Seafood.
