Justice of the Peace election results

Buras area voters went to the polls this weekend for the Justice of the Peace Ward 10 election. The race between four candidates ended in a runoff, which will be held on April 30.

With 78 votes, David McGaha (R) took 47.56 percent of the race.

Lynn D. Porter (D) garnered 37.2 percent with 61 votes.

“Mike” Brewer (N), and Rachel Borne Hayden (D) were also in the race, but did not make the runoff. Brewer received 13.41 percent, or 22 votes. Hayden received 1.83 percent, or 3 votes.

The seat of Justice of the Peace Ward 9 went to Mary Lou Everage as she was unopposed during the qualifying period.
