Turner is target of mail harassment and fraud
Nov 29th, 2010 | By Terri Sercovich | Category: newsA Playboy magazine will soon be arriving at the Plaquemines Parish Government Building, formerly the Popich building, under an infuriated Councilman Burghart Turner’s name.
Turner has been the victim of a form of mail harassment and fraud where subscriptions for adult magazines are being anonymously sent to his work and his government offices.
The District 6 councilman said he recently received an invoice from the magazine.
The bill was sent to the councilman’s government address at the Popich building.
This isn’t the first time Turner has been subscribed to a potentially incriminating publication against his will, he said.
“During the election I received some negative mail-outs,” Turner said.
He said issues of “Playgirl and a homosexual magazine” were sent to his work site at Chevron on Oct. 26, one week before the run-offs.
“How far are they going to go?” Turner asked council and the meeting attendees.
Turner said he canceled this subscription, as he did with all of the others, but was informed the first issue will still be sent because the labels were already printed.
