B.C. Middle visits The Gazette
Sep 28th, 2010 | By Terri Sercovich | Category: school newsA group of 6th grade students at Belle Chasse Middle School recently visited the Gazette as part of their unit of study on the newspaper. They toured the office, spoke to the owner, the current editor, a reporter, a graphic designer, and others who work daily to publish the local paper.
They were led through the entire newspaper production process by Ms. Sercovich, the editor of the paper. Frank, a reporter for the Gazette, explained how he researches and writes articles that appeal to the readers. A hardworking man named Country demonstrated how printing press operates.
When asked what was their favorite part of the visit, Trent Evans exclaimed, “Country!” Since their visit, the students have been writing their own news articles and publishing a classroom paper.
