Parish leaders celebrated the near completion of the new Buras public library Sept. 14. The new facility is located on Highway 11 near the Buras Auditorium.

The Buras public library will feature 20 computers available to the public, a dedicated children’s section and a community meeting room equipped with a kitchen. As a tribute to the surrounding community, the building carries a nautical theme.

District 8 Councilwoman Lynda Banta was beaming at the event.

“Three words – awesome, awesome, awesome,” Banta said.
