Don’t let your family member lose his/her disability check or benefits over what can easily be prevented.

On Thursday, April 19, there will be a free workshop offered on continuing tutorship, interdiction, wills and estates, inheritance and many more related topics. 

The workshop will take place at the Belle Chasse Public Library, 8442 Highway 23, 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Continuing tutorship is for a child between the ages of 15 and 18 who is in need of supervision to manage their adult responsibilities. Once a person reaches 18 years of age, a continuing tutorship cannot be granted and an interdiction must be done. An interdiction is more complicated to obtain and is more expensive. 

Steven M. Jankower, an attorney and counselor at law, will be the keynote speaker. He has spent years dealing with complex legal issues faced by families with elderly, disabled and special needs members. As a father of a child with special needs, Steven has first hand knowledge of the challenges these individuals and their families face everyday.
