La Leg. sets Hurricane recovery meeting
Mar 21st, 2012 | By Terri Sercovich | Category: newsThe Louisiana Legislature’s Select Committee on Hurricane Recovery, chaired by District 97 State Representative Jared Brossett, will hold its next meeting beginning at 5 p.m, March 22 at the New Orleans City Council Chambers. The committee will discuss and hear presentations on recovery issues relating to the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, the Road Home Program, including the Small Rental Program, and recoupment of disaster assistance funding. Citizens will have the opportunity to address the committee and discuss their on-going concerns regarding hurricane recovery.
Rep. Brossett urged those citizens still facing hurricane recovery related issues to take advantage of this opportunity.
“It continues to be imperative that we work to make it right for the citizens that faced disaster over five years ago,” said Brossett. “I encourage all of the affected public to attend our meetings and voice their concerns so that we can understand how to better make their lives whole again.”
The Select Committee was created by the Senate President and the House Speaker to assist the Legislature in understanding and tracking the progress and efficiency of the expenditures of federal disaster funds received for Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav and Ike. The committee will make recommendations to the House and Senate concerning hurricane policies in an attempt to speed recovery in all affected areas of the state.
