Plaquemines Parish teachers Natalie Lortigue and Stephanie Seago of Belle Chasse Middle School experimented with writing VEX code for robotic equipment during a Gateway to Technology training workshop for middle school teachers who plan to implement Project Lead the Way into their classrooms this fall. This year, Chevron is sponsoring teachers from Plaquemines, St. Tammany and Orleans parishes to initiate Project Lead the Way, a program that encourages middle and high school students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The PLTW workshop was held at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana’s PLTW affiliate.
